In the studio... P.O.L. Hobbies: Carving

About ten years ago I got interested in Northwest Coast Native art (okay, I went CRAZY for it), the kind that inspired me to create, Storm Boy. Next thing I knew I was learning to carve, and haven’t stopped since. So far I’ve made masks, boxes, chests, paddles, drums, button robes, headdresses, even my own totem pole in my backyard. I’ve been lucky to meet some pretty terrific carvers, too. Without their help and encouragement I would never have been able to create such wonderful things. My thanks to all of them!
